Drive to Destination or Destiny?

It was heartening to see a person in his 50s attending to an injured young university girl who was bleeding. Do you know why? This was the same person who was severely coughing behind the wheels, who completely lost his control and banged on to the tree on the pathway few minutes before that. The Taxi which was on its way to drop that young girl (the only passenger) was speeding around 60 km/hr. Suddenly, it climbed on to the pathway, went further, before it came to a halt after hitting that strong tree, nearer to the walls of a condominium in Upper East Coast road in the morning hours on 6th April. An Indian couple, who was driving 50 meters behind that Taxi, quickly stopped their car on the roadside and went to rescue the driver and the passenger. The girl came out first from behind and the driver followed her. Both of them were in severe shock. The Malay Brother (Taxi Driver) didn’t show any symptoms of injury but was worried about the young girl. He brought the wet tissues from his car and tried to wipe the blood from the girl’s leg. The girl was terribly shocked and unable to come to terms on what had happened. A Chinese Uncle (from the guard room of the condo) brought his small plastic stool for the girl to sit. Having heard that banging sound, a European man, living opposite to the condo rushed to the spot. The Indian lady managed to console the continuously crying girl and took good care of her. Meanwhile, the Indian man was taking care of the Malay brother. We could see people from different races/religion helping the injured though there were only six persons on the accident site. This really portrays the true spirit of humanity. This is not just a one-off case in eastern part of Singapore but it’s true in all parts of the island. People are so kind and lend a helping hand whenever the need arises. That’s the greatness of Singapore. Luckily, the girl’s parents came back from India only in the morning, few hours before this accident and managed to reached the spot within next 10 minutes. Indian man arranged for the Ambulance, reported the incident to the police and called the tow service. Ambulance reached the spot within 10 minutes and attended to the girl first. The Malay brother who didn’t show any discomfort in the beginning and focussing only on helping that girl slowly revealed his chest pain. Immediately, the Indian man requested the hospital staff to attend to the Malay brother. Both of them were taken to the Changi General hospital and they are fine now. Fortunately, the airbag from the dashboard and steering wheel opened up and saved the driver as well as the passenger to an extent. It was a lucky day for both of them as it ended up in a minor injury though the accident was quite a major one. The Malay Brother was so kind and kept his cool even after that severe head-on collision. Great to see such a people on a situation like this. It was totally unbelievable that both of them inside the car were saved after that severe collision. Lucky it didn’t bang on other cars or people or any concrete structure nearby. God is always Great. Thank God. Friends, please drive with care and if you are feeling any discomfort, immediately stop and don’t push yourself to destination since the destiny is stronger than our determination, sometimes on roads.
